Ken Davy: Altmann must curb people's freedom
Pensions minister needs to act quickly on insistent clients.
I have long been an advocate of Baroness (Ros) Altmann and, in particular, the sterling work she has undertaken over many years on behalf of consumers.
From her campaign to raise awareness about the bleak situation of the Allied Steel and Wire workers, to her unfailing support of the plight of Equitable Life policyholders, her opinions are almost always well-reasoned, fair and just, while equally importantly, she has offered practical support rather than mere rhetoric.
While Baroness Altmann’s recent appointment to the position of pensions minister caused some to fear her independence might become victim of a political agenda, so far, any such concerns have proved groundless and it is good to see that the rights of the consumer have remained firmly at the top of her agenda.
